The biggest European meeting on gastroenterology

UEG Week,  the most important event in Europe for digestive disorders – is taking place on 26-28 October at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via Exhibition Centre. The top-level scientific programme attracts more than 14,000 experts from all over the world.
The meeting, organized by United European Gastroenterology (UEG), discusses the latest advances in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of digestive and liver diseases through surgery, oncology and gastrointestinal endoscopy.
A full scientific and educational programme has been organized, featuring conferences, debates, courses, workshops and the presentation of clinical studies.
Gastrointestinal diseases continue to be one of the main causes of hospitalization and mortality in Europe due to the ageing population, leading to more than one million deaths each year, according to a study published by UEG. Gastrointestinal cancer is the most common form of cancer in men and the second most common in women, with more than 684,000 cases being diagnosed every year in the EU. Alcohol abuse is closely related to liver diseases which account for some 155,000 million euros in healthcare expenditure.
