Montjuïc hosts the most warlike Comic Fair

The International Comic Fair of Barcelona, one of the most important of its kind, will be back from May 15th to 18th with new adventures. Superheroes from wartime comic strips are the leading players at this edition.

One of this year´s new features is the macro exhibition “Comics at war”, which gives a retrospective view of war stories with characters from prehistoric times to the present. With a spectacular setting in an area of 12,000 m2, it is exhibiting 550 original comics by authors from around the world, including about thirty drawings done by prisoners of concentration camps.

Other highlights are the exhibitions dedicated to the anniversaries of Batman and Wolverine and the legendary Popeye, as well as autobiographical comics and graphic humour. Renowned international authors, such as Joe Sacco, Brian Azzarello, Andrew Wildman (Transformers) and Mike Carey (The Unwritten) and the Argentine Eduardo Risso (100 Balas), will be participating among others.

This year’s show, organised by Ficomic, is 70% larger in size, occupying halls and 2 in the Montjuïc exhibition centre. It is also hosting numerous leisure and cultural activities related to comics, such as conferences, round tables, strategy games and war film sessions.
