Fira de Barcelona hosts ibtm world, the world’s leading event for the meetings industry
The most important trade fair in the world for the business, conference and incentive travel industry, ibtm world, formerly EIBTM, takes place on 17-19 November at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue. This year’s event brings together some 3,000 exhibitors from 150 countries and expects to attract over 15,500 attendees.
The show features the latest trends in destinations, products and services dedicated to the professional meetings industry, and is attended by travel agencies, tour operators, conference and convention centres, hotel chains, services companies and international event organizers. Destinations attending for the first time include Los Angeles, Luxembourg, Bulgaria, Paraguay and Sri Lanka, amongst others.
This year ibtm world will once again be promoting the business travel sector in Spain, expanding its well-known Hosted Buyer programme and featuring more business meetings between Spanish even organizers and other Spanish and international suppliers. “This year we’ve noticed an increase in Spanish companies taking part in the fair, growth we haven’t seen since 2008, which will generate more business for the Spanish market which is well on the way to recovery”, explained Graeme Barnett, Senior Exhibition Director, Ibtm world.
As well as the new products featured in the exhibition area, the trade fair will once again have a special Innovation space showcasing the best technological solutions and services for organizing events.
There will also be a comprehensive Knowledge programme with over 100 conferences and seminars featuring leading companies and experts from around the world.
The show, organised by Reed Travel Exhibitions, has been held at Fira de Barcelona since 2004. Since then it has helped to promote the city, Catalonia and Spain as MICE tourism destinations.
