Automobile Barcelona shows off the power of electric vehicles at the e-Motorsport Show

Showcasing all the virtues of electric engines is the main goal of E‑Motorsport Show, the demonstrations activity that Automobile Barcelona, the international car show organised by Fira Barcelona, is launching in its 2023 edition with the support of the National Association of Car and Truck Manufacturers (Anfac). During the two weekends that the show will run, two programmes will be conducted conceived to demonstrate to the general public that electric vehicles have sports features and performance every bit as extreme as those of combustion-engined vehicles.

The first of the planned activities as part of the E-Motorsport Show is the ‘Demo Show’, which will consist of an exhibition in which famous figures of the motoring world will drive different electric vehicles: the QEV Zeroid X1, Cupra Urban Rebel and Adveo AM Electric Kart, on a track laid out around the Montjuïc magic fountain. Visitors will be able to enjoy the demonstrations during both weekends.

Among the drivers who will be participating are rally driver Pablo Suarez; the rally driver who came third in the 2017 Dakar, Gerard Farrés; motorbike rider Laia Sanz, 11 times champion of the Dakar Rally in the women’s category and 14 times world Trial champion; MotoGP rider and Superbikes champion, Carles Checha; the sports journalist specialising in motor vehicles, Albert Fábrega; former racing driver Jordi Gené; influencer Jaume Lahoz; and rally driver and youtuber Guillem Serna.

The Chairman of Automobile Barcelona, Enrique Lacalle, says that “activities such as e-Motorsport Show are perfect for a show like Automobile Barcelona. Firstly, because they bring together top drivers who are ready and willing to entertain motor sport fans with top-class driving exhibitions that can only be seen in major competitions such as rallies and Formula 1. What’s more, they allow us to show the public that electric vehicles have as much potential as petrol-fuelled vehicles in the sporting arena and convince them that they are the present and the future, and now is the time to shed preconceived notions.”

The exhibitions by professional drivers will continue throughout the show with daily driving demonstrations. Among the scheduled events feature those by Pablo Suárez, who hails from the Canary Islands, official RX2e driver placed on the podium at the Nürburgring and Spa-Francorchamps in 2022, who will be at the wheel of the Zeroid X1 RX2e, the model developed by QEV Technologies for the world rally championship in the electric RX2e category, with which Suárez achieved great results in 2022.

Motorbikes, also stars of the show
The “eFMX Show” will feature motorbikes as top attractions. During the first weekend of the show, coinciding with Motoh! Barcelona, the magic fountain area will host demonstrations and stunts by Mathieu Rebeaud and Ronny Showman, two of the top international riders in Freestyle Motocross. On Saturday 13 and Sunday 14, there will be two demonstrations each day, one in the early afternoon (at 1.00 pm) and the other in the evening (5.00 pm on Saturday and 6.30 pm on Sunday).
