The Pokémon creatures invade the Barcelona Manga Fair

From 30 October to 2 November, the Montjuïc venue will be the venue for the Barcelona Manga Fair, one of the largest held outside Japan. This year the event is celebrating its 20th anniversary, featuring the Pokémon saga and setting a new record for space and activities.

The fair, a must for manga and anime fans, covers 50,000 sq. m in halls 1 and 2 and Plaça de l’Univers. New this year is a space called Spirit of Japan, which focuses on Japanese traditional culture, and has an area for meditation and natural therapies.

There is also Japanese cuisine area, where there will be workshops run by Michelin-star chefs, along with the usual zones for manga comic books, anime, cosplay competitions (for those who like to dress as their favourite anime or manga character), concerts and exhibitions. Also attending the show will be special guest authors like Takeshi Obata, Kenzo Hanazawa and Tahehiko Inoue.

The star of this edition is Pokémon, with activities featuring these popular creatures, and the most famous of all: Pikachu. Other activities include cosplay, an exhibition, workshops, film screenings, a photocall area for cosplayers and a themed video game area.

The Barcelona Manga Fair is organised by Ficomic.
