Fira de Barcelona, host for major medical congresses

During the month of September, the Gran Via venue will host three major international congresses, bringing together more than 50,000 specialists to discuss the treatment of cancer and diabetes in the present and the future. These meetings are part of the 14 medical congresses that Fira de Barcelona is hosting in 2019 in line with the city’s positioning as one of the European capitals for health-related events.
The World Conference on Lung Cancer will be held from 7th to 10th September, bringing together 7,000 experts in thoracic oncology. Additionally, the Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) is to be held from the 16th to 20th September; it will address new findings in diabetes research, a disease which currently affects one in eleven people, according to data supplied by WHO.
This meeting will be followed by the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Congress, from 27th September to 1st October, which is considered one of the most important medical-based meetings at an international level, presenting the latest advances in the treatment and prevention of cancer through a scientific programme developed by more than 300 experts.
