Denim by Première Vision brings to Barcelona the international leaders of the denim industry

Barcelona dons denim. The international leaders of the denim industry -that moves 51,000 million dollars a year-, are leaving Paris and moving to the Catalan capital for their benchmark show Denim by Première Vision. On May 21st and 22nd, the Montjuïc exhibition centre will play host to 100 exhibitors from 20 countries that will be showcasing trends, technologies, fabrics, fibres, finishes in and accessories to clothing manufacturers, designers and representatives of the major brands of jeans and prêt-à-porter that are already preparing their collections for the autumn-winter 2015-2016 season.

The change in city and exhibition centre has been well received by Denim by Première Vision and has led to a 5% increase in the number of exhibitors over the May 2013 edition held in Paris. Moreover, with the move to Barcelona, the organisers expect to surpass the 3,000 visitors (72% international) recorded last year in the French capital.

Advance opinions demonstrate the high expectations and optimism about the denim sector’s move to Barcelona. “A city that combines creativity and innovation, will inject the show with energy”, said Marco Lucietti from the Turkish company Isko. Meanwhile, David Bardin from the Spanish manufacturer Tavex, considers “the change in venue is a good move and a stimulus for the denim community, the clients of which are always looking for new experiences”.

Proposals from around the world
Denim by Première Vision will showcase the technology, the latest developments and the know-how of the world’s leading companies that manufacture, cut, sew, wash and label garments made in denim, the star fabric of casual wear and a basic addition to any wardrobe.
45% of the exhibitors are weavers; 23%, clothing manufacturers, “launderers” and finishers; 22% manufacturers of accessories; and 10% suppliers of machinery, fibre producers and developers of technology.

The country with the biggest representation is Turkey (31%), followed by Italy (20%), Morocco (9%); Pakistan (7%) and Spain (6%). Exhibitors from Hong Kong, Tunisia, France, Brazil, Thailand, Japan, Germany, USA, Taiwan, Switzerland, Portugal, Mexico, India, Belgium and Austria will also be participating in the show.

Denim “made in Spain”
The Spanish participation in this edition is headed by three large textile manufacturers Tavex (represented through its Moroccan branch), Tejidos Royo and Textil Santanderina, as well as Jeanología, a firm from Valencia, that specialises in ecological techniques and processes to give denim garments a worn look.

Another regular at the show, Etiquetas Granero, and two companies making their debut this year will be joining these brands: the Barcelona firm Unitin-Industrias Morera, manufacturer of authentic dyed indigo cotton, with the same effects as classic jeans, and the company from Elche, Etiquetas del Mediterráneo, that specialises in all types of garment labels.

The Spanish participation will also feature in the show’s activities programme: Tejidos Royo, in collaboration with the European Design Institute of Barcelona, will present a reinterpretation, from the point of view of students, of various garments regarded as icons of denim history. Jeanologia will organise the “Truth&Light” exhibition, which recreates the history of vintage jeans: original denim garments from different periods of the 20th century, the finish of which is a product of use and passage of time together with replicas made with the latest laser technologies that the firm sells.

Trends and networking
In an enigmatic atmosphere, inspired by the speakeasies of the Prohibition era in 1920s America, visitors to Denim by Première Vision will be able to discover the creativity and innovation that will be worn in the autumn-winter 2015-2016 season in the Trends Area. This zone will also include exhibitions, informative and networking spaces, a bookshop, bars and rest areas.

Denim by Première Vision, an exclusively professional show, will be held in Hall 8, Fira de Barcelona’s Montjuïc exhibition centre, and will remain open from 9.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. The show will hold two editions a year in Barcelona, one in May and the other in November.
