Barcelona becomes the global hub for respiratory medicine

Fira de Barcelona will host ERS Congress 2026 from 5 to 9 September, the world’s leading conference dedicated to respiratory health. Organized by the European Respiratory Society (ERS), the event will bring together experts from around the world at the Gran Via venue to present the latest advances in research, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases.

Nearly 20,000 respiratory health professionals will take part in this year’s ERS Congress, including pulmonologists, researchers and scientists. During five days, the meeting will feature an extensive programme with more than 500 sessions and around 5,000 research papers.

Highlights of this year’s programme include advances in early detection, the impact of climate change and air pollution on lung health, as well as developments in artificial intelligence and digital health.

This will be the fourth time that Fira de Barcelona hosts the ERS Congress, following the 2010, 2013 and 2022 editions, further strengthening its position as a leading venue for major international medical congresses.
