Industry 5.0 will open the IOT Solutions World Congress 2023 sessions

IOT Solutions World Congress (IOTSWC), the largest international event dedicated to the transformation of industry through disruptive technologies, will open with a special focus on the new industry 5.0, which aims to develop Artificial Intelligence (AI) so that machines become capable of performing processes like those executed by human thought. For this reason, it will feature top-level experts and specialised session addressing the keys to adapt to this great challenge.

During the first day of the event, which will take place from 31 January to 2 February at the Gran Via venue at Fira de Barcelona, there will be a plenary session followed by a panel discussion featuring Sean O’Reagain, Deputy Head of Industry 5.0 at the European Commission, who will explain how Industry 5.0 provides a vision of industry that looks beyond efficiency and productivity as the sole goals and reinforces its role and its contribution to society.

These sessions will address key issues such as resilience, offshoring, recruitment, and the use of renewable energies, which are fundamental for the development of an industry 5.0 that places the well-being of the worker at the heart of the production process and uses new technologies to provide prosperity beyond employment and growth, while respecting the planet’s production limits.

On the same day, Katherine Bennett, CEO of The High Value Manufacturing Catapult, a strategic research and innovation centre for UK industry, will explain the state of development of the Internet of Things (IOT) in the UK manufacturing sector.

In addition, on 1 February, Amalaye Oyake, senior flight software engineer, and Timmy Mbaya, head of application software at Blue Origin, the US aerospace transportation company founded by Jeff Bezos, will explain the Orbital Reef project to build a space station in low Earth orbit for commercial activities and space tourism uses.

These are some of the more than 250 experts who will take part in the 2023 edition of IOTSWC, organised by Fira de Barcelona in collaboration with the Industry IOT Consortium® (IIC™) and Digital Twin Consortium® (DTC) and which will structure its conference programme around six themes or stages aimed at offering a new cross-industry approach: IOT Industry, AI, Digital Twins (DT), Edge Computing, Augmented Reality and 5G.

In addition, IOTSWC, which will be jointly held with the Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress (BCC), will have an exhibition area where more than 300 companies from around the world will showcase the latest trends, products and applications of IOT, AI and DT, among other technologies. Highlights include the participation of Amazon Web Services, ABB, KNX, Relayr and TxOne at IOTSWC and Cloudflare, Fortinet, Knowbe4, ManageEngine and Telefonica Tech at BCC.

Together with ISE
Following the success of the first joint edition of IOTSWC and Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) in 2022, the two events have decided to continue to be held simultaneously. In the first occasion, both events explored the common ground between two different sets of disruptive technologies and the potential it offers to attendees and exhibitors. Visitors will once again be able to access the exhibition areas of the two shows at no extra cost, IOTSWC delegates benefit from a 50% discount if they wish to register for any of the ISE conferences, and vice versa.
