The international digestive health community gathers in Barcelona

From 17 to 20 October, Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue will host the 34th edition of UEG Week, Europe’s leading congress dedicated to digestive medicine. Organised by United European Gastroenterology (UEG), the event will bring together gastroenterologists, hepatologists, surgeons, researchers and other specialists from more than 120 countries.

The scientific programme, featuring more than 300 sessions and a record number of submitted abstracts, will address new approaches to diagnosis and treatment, as well as technological advances applied to clinical practice.

Among this year’s new features, UEG Week will introduce dedicated spaces for nutrition and innovation and strengthen its training programme with additional endoscopy stations and a four-day ultrasound programme. It will also hold the second edition of the ‘Digestive Disease Mechanisms Summit’, focusing this year on inflammation, fibrosis and regeneration.

The event will also open up to the general public with ‘Love Your Liver’, an initiative promoted by the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL), offering free, quick and non-invasive liver checks to any adult. The screenings will take place outside the North entrance of the Gran Via venue during the event.
