The trade fair institution plans to hold more than 300 events this year
Health and technology are the focus of Fira de Barcelona’s events this autumn
Exhibitions and congresses on topics related to health and technology will be the focus of the more than 60 major trade fairs and congresses that Fira de Barcelona will hold in the last four months of the year at the venues it manages: Montjuïc, Gran Via, CCIB, as well as the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalonia. A calendar that reinforces the institution’s role as a European trade fair benchmark, economic engine and business, knowledge and internationalisation platform for companies and professionals.
During the last part of the year, the calendar will add more than sixty major trade fairs and congresses in key areas such as technology, health, food and culture, as well as multiple other events, activities and corporate meetings.
Thus, this September kicks off with one of the biggest events in the medical sector of the year, ERS Congress (International Congress of the European Respiratory Society) that will bring together more than 20,000 congressmen in their specialty at the Gran Via venue. It is followed by the first edition of Battery ES Tech Europe, a show focused on the energy storage and advanced batteries sector. The last week of this month will feature the publishing world with Liber, the largest international trade fair on books in Spanish, and Fabcon’s technology, the most important Microsoft conference in Europe.
October will be the time for a classic, the Barcelona Boat Show that will once again fill Port Vell with the latest developments in boats. Likewise, two new events will be launched: the new Saló del Comerç, which will take place together with the Saló de l’Ocupació, and Saga Barcelona Games Fest, about video games. In the field of health, EACTS Annual Meeting, a world reference event in cardiothoracic surgery, and UEG Week (European Gastroenterology Week) stand out. The Ocasión show will close the month with the best offers on pre-owned vehicles.
November will be led by the Smart City Expo World Congress, a world reference event in urban innovation, which returns to the Gran Via venue accompanied by Tomorrow.Mobility, Tomorrow.Blue Economy and Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress, specific fairs in the field of mobility, blue economy and digital security. In addition, this year within the framework of SCEWC, HOWS, a new international congress on housing, will be launched. Also in the technological field, the CCIB will be the scene of a new edition of the Gartner IT Symposium/XPO, the international meeting of analysts of this technology multinational.
In november, food also arrives at the Fira venues with a new edition of the Gastronomic Forum Barcelona, an event for professionals from the world of gastronomy, while in the medical field the EORTC-NCI-AAR stands out, which will bring together experts on cancer treatment at the CCIB and the AVEPA-SEVC Congress, for clinical veterinarians of pets. Also noteworthy is the celebration of the international benchmark event on business tourism IBTM.
The year will close with emblematic events of leisure and culture in Barcelona such as Manga Barcelona and the Children’s Show.
The general manager of Fira de Barcelona, Constantí Serrallonga, highlights that “the 2026 calendar, both in terms of the volume of events and their quality and the topics covered, consolidates Fira as a benchmark in its sector at European level”. Serrallonga also underlines the importance of fairs and events “as a real economic and social engine for the cities and countries that host them”.
Recta final del Circuit
For its part, the Circuit de Barcelona – Catalunya, managed by Fira de Barcelona company’s Fira Circuit, will host for the first time the FIA World Endurance Championship – 6h de Barcelona, the prestigious international endurance racing competition. It will also be the scene of the Ferrari Finali Mondiali, the grand final of the Ferrari Challenge championship, as well as the Barcelona Festival of Speed – GT World Challenge Europe, among many other motoring, sport, corporate and cultural activities.
In addition, Fira de Barcelona completes this intense offer with its activity abroad that includes eleven events this year. After a first semester in which it has held editions of Smart City Expo in Curitiba (Brazil), Santiago Estero (Argentina), Chile and Mexico, and Tomorrow.City in the United States, it faces an end of the year with an intense agenda. It will launch other events, Argentina Alimenta, in Buenos Aires; and Smart City Expo in Santiago de Cali (Colombia). Likewise, new editions of Tomorrow.City will be held in Shanghai; Mexico Hospitality Expo and Tomorrow.Blue Economy Niterói (Brazil).
A year of great activity
Fira de Barcelona will thus close a year of great activity in which it will have held more than 300 events at its venues. Among the shows already held from the beginning of the year at its venues are ISE, MWC Barcelona, Fespa, Barcelona Wine Week, B-Travel, Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, the Goya Awards galas, Alimentaria & Hostelco, Expoquimia and Equiplast, Vitafoods Europe, Seafood Expo Global, or the International Congress of Architecture, in addition to the major events of the motorpsort calendar such as the Gran Premi Montser Energy de Catalunya de MotoGP and the Formula 1 MSC Cruises GP de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Fira de Barcelona is the leading trade fair organisation in the Spanish market and one of the most important in Europe, especially in professional and industrial trade fairs. A recent study by the University of Barcelona quantifies the economic impact of its annual trade fair activity at more than 6,100 million euros, which translates into a Gross Value Added equivalent to 1% of Catalan GDP, and the generation of more than 49,000 jobs.
