Fòrum Gastronòmic returns to Barcelona and will be held in Fira de Barcelona’s Montjuic venue in 2019

Fòrum Gastronomic, one of the most important events of the gastronomic circuit, and Fira de Barcelona, a leading European exhibition company and the leader in Spain in professional events, have reached a strategic agreement to make Barcelona’s exhibition grounds the permanent seat in the Catalan capital of the event that brings together renowned chefs and culinary trends. With this agreement, Fòrum Gastronòmic is assured of a stable home in Barcelona and Fira adds to its calendar a prestigious event which complements Alimentaria-Hostelco in the years in which that event is not held at this venue.
As a result, the third edition of Fòrum Gastronòmic in the city will take place from 10 to 12 November 2019 in the Montjuic de Fira exhibition grounds in Barcelona. Additionally, the companies will explore other avenues of cooperation with the continuing aim of consolidating their leadership in the food and gastronomy sector and of growing together over the coming years.
The purpose of the agreement is to increase collaboration between Alimentaria and Fòrum Gastronòmic to make their offerings in alternate years complementary and as a result to install the city of Barcelona as the leading capital in the food industry and gastronomic innovation, developing business opportunities for the sector, as a showcase for the latest trends.
Fòrum Gastronòmic is one of the most important and prestigious events on the gastronomic circuit. First held in Vic in 1999, it has been held in a number of seats and currently has three homes: Girona, Barcelona and La Coruña. The Fòrum promotes contact between professionals in the sector and encourages networking among speakers, exhibitors and delegates, becoming a huge business space. In its last edition in the Catalan capital, held on the Gran Vía in October 2016, Fòrum Gastronòmic welcomed a large number of exhibitors and acted as a showcase for the best brands in the market and the most significant developments.
Relevance to food, hotel and restaurant sectors
This agreement comes just days before the Gran Vía venue hosts the first joint edition of Alimentaria and Hostelco, internationally leading events in their fields. This will provide a great platform to the food, drinks, Food Service and hotel equipment industry for internationalisation, deal-making and innovation, with gastronomy as a point of difference.
With 100,000 m2 of net exhibition space, the presence of 4,500 businesses, 27% of them international, and including the most important organisations in the sector, as well as hundreds of activities and the presentation of the latest developments, this great food and hospitality gathering is the biggest of recent years and a unique opportunity for professionals in these industries.
