42 Spanish companies share the 71 awards in the Packaging and POS Advertising Competition organised by AESPackaging and Hispack
Circular Economy Shapes the Liderpack 2026 Awards
The Liderpack 2026 Awards, organised by AESPackaging of Graphispack Asociación and Hispack of Fira de Barcelona, have recognised 51 packaging projects and 20 Point-of-Sale Advertising (POS) solutions. This year’s winners showcase the Spanish industry’s commitment to circularity, technological innovation and reducing environmental impact. The jury also granted 18 awards in the Young Design category, aimed at students.
Almost 200 entries were submitted this year, representing a 36% increase on the previous edition and confirming the strong momentum of Spain’s packaging and POS sectors. The awarded projects focus on reuse, recycling, ecodesign, digitalisation and the development of solutions aligned with the requirements of the new European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). At the same time, they continue to enhance product protection, user experience and visual communication.
Among the most noteworthy innovations is rPS Food, developed by Coexpan-Grupo Lantero, a technology that enables post-consumer recycled polystyrene to be reincorporated into new food packaging, effectively closing the material loop. Also recognised was FibreSeal, developed by Smurfit Westrock, a paper treatment that allows heat-sealing without affecting the conventional recyclability of the fibre, providing an alternative to certain plastic applications. Meanwhile, MynVision, developed by Myneral Labs, gives each reusable glass bottle a unique digital identity, making it possible to track its usage history.
Monomaterial solutions to improve recyclability
The jury also recognised recyclable monomaterial packaging solutions developed by Enplater and Flexomed, as well as several projects aimed at reducing food waste and extending the shelf life of fresh products such as aromatic herbs, tomatoes and garlic cloves.
Other developments focus on improving the user experience. One example is Soria by Ecoocel, developed by Grupo Tav Food: modular trays designed to cook torreznos directly in an air fryer while allowing excess fat to drain away during preparation.
The Premium Pack category highlighted the creative quality of Spanish packaging design. Award-winning projects included packaging for the premium olive oils Vincle 1919, by Al Margen Branding & Packaging, and Olisone Primera Cosecha, by Lidl. Also recognised were perfume packaging solutions developed by Garrofé and Anónima, as well as UNOde50 Locker Box, the jewellery packaging collection created by Promocean Spain in the shape of a padlock.
Logistics packaging gains momentum
Logistics packaging was one of the most heavily contested categories, reflecting its growing importance in supply chain efficiency. Recognised developments included Alfilpack’s reusable frame for transporting solar panels and its reusable corrugated cardboard system for electrical inverters.
Other award-winning solutions include the Carry Box, a box that converts into a basket, by Capsa Packaging; GeoSAC, a smart container for construction waste, by Climesa; and 2ECO+, a recyclable insulated box developed by Font Packaging Group. These solutions help reduce packaging weight, optimise loads, extend service life and lower transport-related emissions.
The awards also recognised labels and decorative packaging elements inspired by Barcelona’s iconic panot paving stone and the landscape of the Empordà region; tea and infusion packaging that incorporates design cues from the perfume sector; bottle boxes featuring extendable protection systems; cartons that transform into serving trays; and e-commerce packaging that reduces void-fill material while improving the unboxing experience, among other products.

In-store experiences
The 20 Liderpack-PLV Popai Spain Awards demonstrate the evolution of point-of-sale advertising towards more impactful, responsible and interactive formats.
Among the recognised projects is Barrica González Byass, developed by Pop Team Display, which recreates one of the wine sector’s most recognisable symbols to reinforce the product’s premium positioning. Other winners include the display for Cervezas Gran Vía, developed by Primera Línea Visual; the multi-level display created by Smurfit Westrock for Vieira; Ruleta Promocional Flora, developed by Klingele Embalajes Iberia; and the promotional island designed by Baskiat for Rituals’ Intuitia collection.
The jury particularly valued designs that actively engage consumers, such as the children’s Tiritas® floorstand. It also recognised displays inspired by iconic brand elements, including a giant bottle for Schwarzkopf Professional, a suitcase display for Bobbi Brown, and an ice-cream cart for Rabanne.
In the POS category, Adaequo secured five Liderpack awards, dgé-plv won three, while Altavia Ibérica, Baskiat, Miralles Cartonajes and Primera Línea Visual-Grupo La Plana received two each. Klingele Embalajes Iberia, Pop Team Display, Promocean Spain and Smurfit Westrock received one award each.
Real-world challenges for emerging talent
The jury awarded 18 Liderpack Young Design Awards to projects that had previously reached the finals of the 17th National Packaging Design and Sustainability Awards, organised by the Packaging Innovation Cluster. The competition brought together more than 1,000 students from 34 Spanish universities and design schools.
The projects respond to challenges set by Grupo Pikolinos, DS Smith, Damel Group, Qiub, Familia Martínez and Alpesa. They address issues such as reuse, ecodesign, logistics optimisation, new retail display formats and enhanced user experience.
With three awards, the University of Valladolid topped this category. It was followed by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, the University of Zaragoza, Mondragon Unibertsitatea and CEU Cardenal Herrera University, each with two Liderpack awards.
The list of winners is completed by projects from Universitat Jaume I, Universitat Politècnica de València-Campus d’Alcoi, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, the Escuela Superior de Diseño de Aragón, the Escola d’Art i Superior de Disseny de València, the Escuela Superior de Arte del Principado de Asturias and the Escuela de Arte León Ortega, each receiving one award.
The 18 Young Design projects that won a Liderpack Award are automatically entered into the WorldStar Student Awards, aimed at students worldwide.
