La Universidad Europea de Madrid realizará el estudio
The Caravanning Show promotes the next White Paper on the sector in Spain
As a leading event in the sector in Spain and one of the most outstanding in Europe, the Caravanning Show has promoted this initiative, which will allow the information from the last study carried out in 2007 to be updated. The report aims to offer an up-to-date view of the sector and to become a strategic tool to analyse its trends and strengthen its positioning within the national tourism ecosystem.
The project will be developed by the Tornare MarSenses Chair | Septeo | AEDH Foundation of Universidad Europea de Madrid, which will carry out the research with the support of different agents in the sector. The International Caravanning Exhibition, together with the Spanish Association of the Caravanning Industry and Commerce (ASEICAR) and the Gremi d’Empresaris del Caravaning de Catalunya (GREMCAR), will provide data and sectoral information, as well as their experience and in-depth knowledge of the market. The research will combine the analysis of sectoral data with academic work and interviews with companies, associations and other key players in the caravanning ecosystem, with the aim of offering a rigorous and up-to-date snapshot of the sector in Spain.
Among other aspects, the White Paper will analyse the growth that this type of tourism has experienced in recent years, its economic impact on destinations, new traveller profiles and the challenges associated with sustainability, territorial planning and the digitalisation of the sector. The project will also strengthen the link between academia and industry, integrating the vision of caravanning companies, associations and professionals.
According to the director of Fira de Barcelona’s International Caravanning Exhibition, Josep Antoni Llopart: “Caravanning is experiencing a moment of strong growth and evolution. Initiatives such as this White Paper will allow us to analyse its impact in greater depth, providing knowledge that will help to strengthen its projection in the coming years.”
For her part, Mariló Martínez García, dean of the Faculty of Economic, Business and Communication Sciences at Universidad Europea de Madrid, explains: “Tourism is undergoing profound transformations in its forms of mobility, consumption and relationship with destinations. Caravanning is one of the clearest expressions of this change. From the university, we want to contribute with rigorous research that allows us to better understand this phenomenon and support the development of the sector.”
