Reshape recognises the new 3D designers at IN(3D)USTRY

Organised by Noumena, IN(3D)USTRY and Fira de Barcelona, the Reshape Awards seek to promote research and design and the production of digital ideas, exploring technological applications in our society. The competition consists of two categories: wearable electronic devices and product design. 105 projects have been submitted, 20 of which have been selected for the final. The awards will be presented in the evening on 18 October as the culminating moment of IN(3D)USTRY.

The “product” category, new this year, is aimed at designers interested in solutions to promote well-being. This section includes a wide array of applications, ranging from sports articles to medical devices. Reshape challenges manufacturers and designers to submit products capable of relating to the physical and digital worlds, while the design concepts must take into account the social impact of their production and the consumption cycle.
In addition, in the wearable technology section, participants are invited to create a garment or gadget which respects the environment and provides some kind of health benefit. Projects which provide solutions for problems related to breathing, pollution, poor postures, stress and so on.
The finalists, ten in each category, will present their projects on the main IN(3D)USTRY stage, and they will then be displayed throughout the two days of the event. The winners of the fourth awards will be announced in the evening on 18 October at a ceremony that will also serve to bid farewell to IN(3D)USTRY.
According to Reshape director Aldo Solazzo, “our intention is to promote exchanges of ideas with innovation as the keynote, publicising real projects by emerging designers who foresee the huge potential that the joint forces of technology and retail will generate in the not too distant future”.
For Miquel Serrano, director of IN(3D)USTRY, he believes that “Reshape is a highly valuable event for the whole digital ecosystem, as it enables us to learn more about the potential applications of innovative technologies while bringing emerging talents into contact with key players in the industrial field”.
