The asian smart city event brings together 100 companies and 180 experts
Tomorrow.City Shanghai places diversity as a driver of urban prosperity
The Zhangjiang Science Hall will host the seventh edition of Tomorrow.City Shanghái from 22 to 26 September. With more than 180 prestigious experts in its congress programme and the participation of more than a hundred companies and institutions in its exhibition space, the event expects to exceed 5,000 attendees, consolidating itself as the main meeting point in the Asia-Pacific region in terms of urban future.
Organised by Fira de Barcelona, Tomorrow.City Shanghai has the support of the Municipal Government of China’s economic capital. Under the slogan ‘Thriving through diversity’, the show revolves around four thematic axes linked to smart cities: Tomorrow.Technologies, Mobility (Tomorrow.Mobility), Environment (Tomorrow.Energy & Environment) and Public Services (Tomorrow.Public Services).
From there, the event proposes five major spaces: ‘City Dialogue’ (the space to promote exchange and reflection between the different actors), ‘), ‘City Solution’ (the exhibition area itself, which shows real solutions), ‘City Challenge’ (the framework to promote direct contact between city projects and potential collaborating companies), ‘Tomorrow.City Workshop & Journey’ (a window to the main smart city projects promoted in Shanghai), and ‘City Awards’ (recognition of cities and regions that have implemented good practices).
More than 180 speakers
Specifically, the informative part will have more than 180 speakers and more than 90 interventions, including round tables, presentations and debates. Thus, the cast of experts includes André Sobczak, Secretary General of Eurocities; Francesca Bria, President of ART-ER and Honorary Professor at University College London (UCL), and YB Tuan Nga Kor Ming, Minister of Housing and Local Government of Malaysia.
Also participating in the congress will be Laura Suárez, CEO of Talent Hub Medellín; Ts. Anusha Magendram, Deputy Vice President of the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT); Dr. (H.C.) Sultan B. Najamudin, President of the Regional House of Representatives of Indonesia; and Hamilton José Mendes da Silva, Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Digital Innovation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of Brazil.
Exhibition, contact and success stories
As far as the trade fair area is concerned, Tomorrow.City Shanghai will have 10,000 m2 of space where more than 100 exhibitors, both suppliers of products, services and technologies and the cities themselves, will show real solutions that are already being applied around the world. Among the companies and institutions present are Huawei, China Telecom, Pony Ai, Dahua Technology, 51 World, Arcfox and Chaoyang Environment.
This area will be complemented by the metropolis-business connection spaces, where more than 30 specific projects will be presented, and with the dozen guided tours to learn about the latest smart city projects promoted in the Asian city.
Finally, Tomorrow.City Shanghai also includes in its program the delivery of the Region & China Smart City Awards, awards that recognize the best practices of the geographical area in terms of smart cities and seek to highlight these cities as role models. The 2026 edition of these awards, born from the World Smart City Awards of Smart City Expo World Congress, include recognitions of localities, projects, products and companies in areas such as technology, energy and environment, governance, mobility, economy, inclusion, resilience and infrastructure.
Fira, global brand
Tomorrow.City Shanghai is part of the programme of events that Fira de Barcelona International organises outside Spain. This year’s events include the editions of Smart City Expo in Santiago de Chile, Curitiba (Brazil), Santiago del Estero (Argentina), Puebla (Mexico) and Santiago de Cali (Colombia), as well as Tomorrow.City in the United States, the second edition of Mexico Hospitality Expo in Guadalajara (Mexico) and a new edition of Tomorrow.Blue Economy in Niterói (Brazil). In addition to all these events, the first edition of Argentina Alimenta, in Buenos Aires, is also added.
