Festival de la Infancia fills Montjuïc with fun for children and families

From 27 to 31 December, the Festival de la Infancia one of Barcelona’s classic and best-known Christmas family entertainment plans, will be back. This year, the event includes 60 new and fun leisure, sporting and cultural activities for children up to 12 years of age. As a novelty, a space has been created with specific proposals for babies and children up to 4 years of age.

The Festival de la Infancia is organised by Fira de Barcelona with the support of Barcelona City Council and produced by Evident Events. It is the oldest children’s entertainment event in Catalonia (it has been held since 1963) and takes place during the Christmas holidays. Its activities, as well as being fun, promote healthy lifestyle habits and values such as solidarity, civic-mindedness, creativity and respect for diversity and the environment.

This year, for example, children will be able to go on an adventure circuit or an American track, experience virtual reality, skate on a synthetic ice rink, be a fireman or city guard for a day, become a mini chef and cook tasty recipes, take part in make-up, painting or handicrafts workshops, have fun on a farm, learn the rules of the road on a bicycle, or attend concerts and theatre and magic performances, among many other activities.

New space for early childhood

As a novelty, the Festival de la Infancia has created the Mini space, with games and educational activities adapted for babies and children up to 4 years of age. It includes a toy library, spaces for psychomotricity and sensory experimentation, visual experiences, a circuit with vintage cars and a made-to-measure stage with puppet shows, storytelling and music. For the convenience of families, there will be a parking area for pushchairs and a breastfeeding room.

The Festival de la Infancia will occupy Palau 2 and Plaça de l’Universe at the Montjuïc venue and will be open in two shifts: morning (from 10am to 3pm) or afternoon (from 5pm to 9pm) to regulate the number of attendees. The price of an individual ticket is 8 euros, while the family pack (two adults and two children) will cost 28 euros. There are season tickets for all days in morning and afternoon shifts, as well as discounts for advance purchase through the website (www.festivalinfancia.com).
