To highlight the importance of the exhibition industry worldwide
Fira de Barcelona celebrates Global Exhibitions Day
Once again, Fira de Barcelona is joining Global Exhibitions Day (GED), an initiative promoted by UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, which this year celebrates its eleventh edition. The celebration comes at a time of growth for the industry, which generates a global economic impact of 393 billion euros and supports 4.3 million jobs worldwide.
Under the theme “Exhibitions Drive Opportunities,” this year’s edition aims to highlight the ability of exhibitions and trade shows to generate business opportunities, foster professional development, and promote innovative and sustainable solutions. The campaign underscores the role of exhibition events as meeting points that connect companies, professionals, and economic sectors.
According to the latest UFI figures, nearly 32,000 exhibitions are held around the world each year, bringing together 4.7 million exhibitors and 317.7 million visitors. In Europe, which accounts for a significant share of this market, the exhibition industry contributes 116 billion euros to the economy and supports nearly one million jobs.
A rapidly expanding Fira
2025 was a landmark year for Fira de Barcelona, which strengthened its leadership position with revenues exceeding 350 million euros, an EBITDA of 60 million euros, and close to 300 events held. With an annual economic impact of more than 6.1 billion euros and over 49,000 jobs generated, the institution contributes responsibly and sustainably to the economic and social development of Barcelona and its surrounding region. The momentum of key strategic projects currently underway — including the expansion of the Gran Via venue with the new Hall Zero, the redevelopment of the Montjuïc exhibition grounds, and the diversification of activities at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya — reinforces this commitment and strengthens Fira’s long-term legacy.
