Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress closes an edition shaped by the challenges of AI
Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress (BCC) concludes today an edition shaped by the impact of artificial intelligence on digital security and the need to strengthen the resilience of businesses, industries and critical infrastructure. The event brought together more than 6,900 professionals in Barcelona, 30% of them international attendees from 84 countries, further strengthening its role as a European meeting point for sharing knowledge, creating business opportunities and forging new partnerships in the field of cybersecurity.
Jointly organised by Fira de Barcelona and the Cybersecurity Agency of Catalonia, BCC has brought together a total of 112 exhibiting companies, more than 150 international experts and more than 6,900 visitors at its seventh edition. Companies including EY, Fortinet, Cisco, SoSafe, Mastercard, Sophos, ClearSkies, Sirt, TrendAI, ThreatLocker and Telefónica have showcased solutions designed to anticipate, detect and respond to increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks.
Artificial intelligence has been one of the key topics at the congress, both because of the new threats it poses and its potential to improve the protection of systems and organisations. This edition has also addressed cybersecurity as a strategic and reputational factor for businesses, digital identity and trust, as well as systemic, cyber-physical and supply chain resilience.
The director of Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress, Flavia Santoro, said that “this edition has highlighted the importance of cybersecurity as a strategic element for businesses, consolidating the event’s position as a leading European platform by bringing together companies, experts and institutions to share knowledge, generate business opportunities and forge the partnerships needed to tackle increasingly sophisticated digital risks”.
Leadership in cybersecurity
With seven categories spanning strategic leadership, technological innovation, critical infrastructure protection, talent, and digital security culture, the CISO Leadership Awards 2026 have recognized professionals, organizations, and initiatives for their contributions to international cybersecurity, with a particular focus on leadership and talent. Three women are among the seven award winners, including Abertis’ Head of Cybersecurity, Olga Forné, who was named CISO of the Year.
BCC has taken place over three days at the Gran Via venue, alongside Smart City Expo World Congress and other events focused on urban transformation, mobility, the blue economy, housing and technological innovation.
The next edition of Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress will take place from 2 to 4 November 2027, alongside Smart City Expo World Congress.
