Battery & ES Tech Europe will bring together key players in a booming sector

The first edition of Battery & Energy Storage Tech Europe will gather more than a hundred leading companies and institutions in Europe in the energy storage field. Thus, on 8 and 9 September, the Gran Via venue will become the meeting point to discuss the main challenges and opportunities of a sector called to shape the future of the European economy.

Battery & ES Tech Europe is presented as a platform to promote innovation and collaboration for an industry that is strategic, in a context of energy transition and Europe’s need for greater autonomy and increased industrial competitiveness. In this sense, the event has managed to attract prominent players in the ecosystem, including companies, technology centres, associations and institutions.

The show will have an exhibition area that will host more than 50 firms and entities, including: Omron, Monolithic Power Systems, Gamma Technologies, Farnell Global, Relats, Battech, Halide Energy, Alvatek and LiCAP. On the other hand, a large number of companies will also participate in the event to share the latest developments and reflect on the sector’s future, such as: Basquevolt, Acciona, Endesa, Veolia, Naturgy, EDP Renewables, Galp, Neoen, CIC energiGUNE, SolarPower Europe, Alta Renewables, Flow Batteries Europe or Smappee, among others.

In its first edition, Battery & ES Tech also has the support and presence of key national and international entities for promoting the sector and strengthening it, such as: the Government of Spain, through the Center for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI); the Generalitat de Catalunya, through ACCIÓ; as well as IREC, Eurecat, BatteryPlat, BEPA, Batt4EU, CIDETEC Energy Storage, CIIAE, MAV, the Waste Cluster of Catalonia, the CTM Foundation, ALBA, VITO, Upcell Alliance, or MICMAB.

However, whether in the exhibition area or in the knowledge and networking spaces, the range of companies and institutions that have joined the show covers the entire value chain of batteries and energy storage systems: from the processing of strategic raw materials, the development of new materials and manufacturing processes or equipment for testing and validation.  to safety solutions, key components and industrial applications linked to electrification, as well as regulatory frameworks and the design of strategic policies.

More than 40 speakers

Battery & Energy Storage Tech Europe will combine the exhibition area with networking spaces and an international congress that will address some of the main challenges and opportunities of the sector, such as smart battery management, the design of sustainable systems, investment in new technologies and the development of a more autonomous European industry.

To roll out this congress agenda, the show will feature the participation of more than 40 speakers, including: Christian Barba, International Business Development and Storage Senior Director at EDP Renewables; Naim El Chami, Battery Technical Expert at Neoen; Laura Simonelli, Beamline Group Leader of the ALBA Synchrotron; José Moisés Martín, general director of the Centre for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI), and Joan González Fabra, head of R+D policies at the Battery European Partnership Association (BEPA).

Energy storage represents a booming sector, in a context marked by the search for industrial competitiveness that combines autonomy and respect for the environment. With Battery & ES Tech Europe, Fira de Barcelona reinforces its commitment to high value-added sectors and consolidates the Catalan capital as a European hub for energy innovation, incorporating a new specialised proposal into the trade fair calendar with growth potential in future editions.
