The event announces the first confirmed speakers
Battery & ES Tech Europe 2026 will analyse the challenges of energy storage
What opportunities does Europe have to strengthen its leadership in the development and deployment of energy storage systems? How can technological innovation accelerate its competitiveness? What regulatory and security challenges does it pose? What role should industries and research centres play? These are some of the questions that will be addressed at the congress of the first edition of Battery & Energy Storage Tech Europe , which already has the first confirmed speakers.
The Battery & Energy Storage Tech Europe 2026 congress will structure its programme around four axes: industrial and emerging applications; technological perspective – BESS; recycling and second life, and policy and regulation. To delve into all these major issues, the show is outlining an ambitious programme of conferences in which the participation of nearly 50 executives from large energy companies, institutional representatives, technology centres and European academic leaders is expected.
Among the first confirmed participants is Christian Barba, International Business Development and Storage Senior Director at EDP Renewables, who will share the experience of one of the leading European utilities in the integration of energy storage in large-scale renewable projects from an international perspective. The congress will also focus on the real deployment of industrial and grid solutions through the participation of Naim El Chami, Battery Technical Expert at Neoen, one of the leading operators in renewable energies and BESS systems, who will provide a practical vision based on projects currently in operation.
From the scientific and technological field, the presence of Laura Simonelli, Beamline Group Leader at ALBA Synchrotron, one of the major European scientific infrastructures, stands out. For his part, José Moisés Martín, general director of the Centre for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI), an agency under the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, will address the role of public funding, innovation and industrial policy in promoting energy storage technologies in Spain and Europe.
This group of strategic speakers is completed by Joan González Fabra, head of R+D policies at the Battery European Partnership Association (BEPA), who will offer a global vision of the European roadmap in innovation, regulation and industrial development of the battery ecosystem. His intervention will allow the congress debates to be contextualised within the major EU strategies on industrial autonomy, energy transition and technological competitiveness, aligning industry, research and public policies at a decisive moment for the energy storage sector in Europe.
Jean Louis Cols (Invity Energy Systems), Dr. Josef Daniel-Ivad (International Zinc Association), Yue Jin Tay (Circulor), Francisco Carranza (Upcell Alliance), Dr. Aline Soares (Project Blue) and Dr. Radostin Pavlov (Eurecat), among other speakers, have also confirmed their participation in the conference program.
An unmissable event for a booming sector
Organised by Fira de Barcelona in collaboration with 104-Media, Battery & Energy Storage Tech Europe 2026 will bring together professionals from the entire industrial and stationary energy storage value chain on 8 and 9 September at the Gran Via venue. The event will combine this high-level conference programme with a specialised exhibition space, positioning itself as a benchmark forum to connect industry, research and public administrations, and to analyse technological advances, new business models, European regulation and innovation opportunities that will mark the future of the energy sector.
