Expoquimia Gala Dinner to celebrate chemistry and reward industrial innovation

On the occasion of its 60th anniversary, Expoquimia –the International  Chemistry Event and Process Industries organised by Fira de Barcelona– is placing special emphasis on one of its flagship events: the Gala Dinner. Building on the success of the previous edition, this social gathering will once again bring together senior executives from leading companies, professional associations and institutional representatives for an evening that fosters high-level networking and highlights the transformative power of chemistry in sustainable development and industrial competitiveness.

This major night for the chemical industry will take place on 3 June in the Oval Hall of the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC) and is expected to attract over 700 attendees, including CEOs and senior executives from Spain’s leading chemical companies. The event is sponsored by Bondalti, Carburos Metálicos, FEDEQUIM, Grupo IQE, QCinca, QD Quimidroga, BASF, Covestro, FEIQUE, Institut Químic de Sarrià (IQS), Lleal, Quimacova, Messer, Net-Pharma Hub and Sener.

As a new feature, the Gala Dinner will also welcome sectors that rely on chemical solutions, broadening its scope as a platform for strategic professional networking and the generation of new collaboration opportunities. One example will be the attendance of representatives from companies and organisations in the plastics sector linked to Equiplast, the trade fair held alongside Expoquimia from 2 to 5 June at the Gran Via exhibition venue.

Carles Navarro, President of the Organising Committee of Expoquimia 2026, explains: “Chemistry is the driving force behind most industrial advances. With the Gala Dinner, we aim to highlight the innovative and economic strength of our sector, give visibility to the companies that lead it, and create an environment that encourages strategic alliances with those who, together with us, are committed to the sustainable transformation of industry.”

The evening will feature a keynote address by Katja Scharpwinkel, Vice-President of the European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic) and a member of the Executive Committee of BASF SE, who will provide an international perspective on the sector’s outlook. During the gala, the Best-in-Class awards will be presented, recognising the five most innovative projects showcased in the Expoquimia Industry Showcase and Equiplast Rethinking Plastics conference areas of the chemistry and plastics exhibitions.

Now firmly established as the premier networking event for Spain’s chemical sector, the Expoquimia Gala Dinner will enable companies and organisations to invite clients and strategic partners, strengthening their visibility and positioning among leading brands.

With six months remaining before the event, prominent companies, organisations and sector associations have already confirmed their attendance with corporate tables at the Expoquimia Gala Dinner. These include the Asociación Española del Comercio Químico (AECQ); ACCIÓ, the Agency for Business Competitiveness of the Government of Catalonia; the Col·legi de Químics de Catalunya (COQC); Moeve; and Quimeltia, in addition to all the event’s sponsoring companies.

Expoquimia is Spain’s leading trade fair for the chemical industry and is held alongside the plastics exhibition, Equiplast. From 2 to 5 June, both events are expected to bring together 800 exhibitors and attract more than 21,000 visitors, with a strong focus on the sustainable transformation of production processes.
