This Central Asian republic is becoming a major tourist destination
Uzbekistan will be the guest country at Fira de Barcelona’s tourism show, B-Travel
The Republic of Uzbekistan will be the guest country of the next edition of B-Travel, which will take place from 20 to 22 March at the Montjuïc venue. The Central Asian country has chosen the Fira de Barcelona tourism show to promote its unknown nature and its thousand-year-old cultural, historical and architectural heritage in the Catalan market, the main source of travellers in all of Spain.
With an area of 450,000 square kilometres and more than 37 million inhabitants, Uzbekistan emerges as one of the most sought-after tourist destinations in recent years for its historical legacy on the mythical Silk Road, which linked China with the Mediterranean, its legendary cities such as its capital Tashkent or Samarkand, one of the oldest and most famous in the world, or its Islamic architecture, among other attractions. In addition, the Asian country is promoting nature tourism, as Uzbekistan has large deserts, mountainous landscapes or steppes.
The president of B-Travel, Martí Sarrate, pointed out that “at the Fira de Barcelona tourism show, we are working to bring the public destinations with their own identity, capable of surprising and generating new business opportunities for the sector. The presence of Uzbekistan as a guest country will not only enrich the offer of the event but will also open new avenues of collaboration between tourism professionals, agencies and tour operators”.
He also wanted to thank “the trust placed by the authorities and tourism representatives of Uzbekistan to give our visitors the opportunity to discover a fascinating destination, full of history, tradition and future”.
To publicise its varied offer, Uzbekistan will carry out a series of promotional actions at its stand and will have a special role in the programme of activities for professionals designed by the show.
Major international destinations
The attractions of Uzbekistan are thus added to the wide range of major international destinations of the show, which in this edition will have the presence of China, Croatia, France and Portugal, among others. With the slogan ‘Viajar’, B-Travel will bring together more than 100 direct exhibiting companies, with the participation of practically all the Spanish autonomous communities such as Aragon, Andalusia, the Canary Islands, Castilla-La Mancha, Catalonia, Extremadura, Madrid and Navarre, as well as the island of Menorca and the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa.
