Tomorrow.Blue Economy returns to Niterói to promote the blue economy from Brazil

Under the slogan ‘The debate that makes waves’, Tomorrow.Blue Economy returns to Niterói on 26 and 27 November to address the challenges and opportunities offered by the blue economy. With the participation of a hundred speakers and more than 3,000 visitors, this event is consolidated as the reference event in the Latin American South Atlantic axis on activities related to the sustainable use of marine and coastal resources.

Organised by Fira de Barcelona, hosted by the Prefeitura de Niterói and supported by the World Ocean Council, Tomorrow.Blue Economy Niterói celebrates its second edition at the emblematic Caminho Niemeyer.

With the aim of positioning Brazil as a global benchmark in the blue economy, the congress proposes a program with four thematic axes: coastal resilience and sustainability; ports and innovative naval technologies; blue economy and tourism; and water governance and regulation. These pillars will be the basis of debates and reflections on, among other issues: the offshore energy transition, marine biotechnology, ocean tourism, the role of agriculture or the concept of the “Blue Amazon”, as the Brazilian maritime territory is known as it is similar in size to the terrestrial Amazon.

To deploy this congress offer, Tomorrow.Blue Economy Niterói will have the participation of around a hundred leading figures in this field, including: Diva Amon, a marine biologist internationally recognized for her work in the exploration and conservation of deep ocean ecosystems; Richard Rasmussen, Brazilian economist, biologist and naturalist; Renata Correia, head of analysis and performance at The Ocean Cleanup, a high-impact organization in ocean cleanup; Lisa Simone de Grunt, director of programs at the World Ocean Council, or Saulo Jennings, Amazonian chef and gastronomic ambassador of UN Tourism. They will be joined by other international and regional profiles who will share experiences, innovative solutions and success stories linked to the responsible use of ocean resources.

The congress is complemented by an exhibition in which leading companies in their sector at the national and regional level will be present, such as Transpetro Petrobras, Wilson Sons or Subsea7, among others. Likewise, Tomorrow.Blue Economy Niterói will also have a business area in which networking activities will be offered to promote exchange between executives and industry leaders.

Last abroad event of the year

The celebration of Tomorrow.Blue Economy Niterói closes Fira de Barcelona’s international agenda for 2025. With the one in Brazil, Fira will close the year having organised a total of 12 events outside the country, with a significant weight of the Smart City Expo World Congress spin-offs. Thus, among the events held are the editions of SCE in New York (USA), Curitiba (Brazil), Puebla (Mexico), Santiago del Estero (Argentina), Santiago de Chile (Chile), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Cartagena de Indias (Colombia) and Doha (Qatar), as well as Mexico Hospitality Expo in Guadalajara (Mexico), IOT Solutions Congress Brazil and the Tomorrow City in Shanghai (China).
