Guidance, training and tools to boost employability
The Saló de l’Ocupació activates talent to connect with greater job opportunities
The Saló de l’Ocupació is preparing a new edition, which will take place on 15 and 16 October at the Montjuïc venue, with a clear focus on enhancing employment opportunities and providing guidance, training and resources to improve the employability of the entire working population, with a particular emphasis on young people. This year, the event, organised by Fira de Barcelona and promoted by the Barcelona City Council through Barcelona Activa, will also feature companies looking to attract new talent across various sectors.
With the collaboration of nearly one hundred organisations from the city’s employment ecosystem, the Saló de l’Ocupació will offer updated and specialised spaces designed to support attendees through all stages of their professional development. In this regard, the event targets not only young people preparing to enter the labour market but also individuals actively seeking employment, as well as working professionals looking for a career change and wishing to create a tailored action plan to access new and better professional opportunities.
In this context, Raquel Gil, Councillor for Economic Promotion and Employment at Barcelona City Council and President of Barcelona Activa, states:
“The Saló de l’Ocupació is a clear expression of our commitment to improving the quality of employment in Barcelona and our dedication to connecting talent with a fairer, more inclusive and more sustainable labour market. This event allows us to strengthen collaboration between public administrations, businesses and social partners to create real opportunities, enhance employability and support individuals in their professional growth.”
On the one hand, throughout the event, the participating organisations will present the resources available to support employment improvement. On the other hand, visitors will leave with a concrete action plan and a clearer understanding of their career goals.
Attendees will be able to chart a personalised route aligned with their professional interests through general information areas showcasing the fair’s offerings and activities. They will also receive personalised guidance from experts and gain access to a new space focused on reskilling and upskilling, helping them to either redirect their career path or acquire new technical and transferable skills to remain up to date. In parallel, sessions will be offered to improve CV and application presentation and to train for job interviews, using tools such as artificial intelligence and virtual reality.
Direct links with the labour market
This edition will place special emphasis on the area dedicated to connecting jobseekers with employment opportunities through the participation of companies actively recruiting new talent in the short term. In addition, talks, workshops and networking activities will highlight emerging sectors with high demand for professionals and the most sought-after skills. Sector-specific marketplaces will also take place, connecting companies with job openings and potential candidates. This space includes the “Sí, i millor” fair, aimed at supporting the employment inclusion of people with disabilities.
The Saló de l’Ocupació, which will be held in Hall 8 of the Montjuïc venue, is free to attend with prior online registration, offering time slots to manage visitor capacity. The event will coincide with Bizbarcelona, the trade fair focused on SMEs, small businesses and self-employed professionals seeking to update their businesses, share experiences and drive business innovation.
