257 exhibitors and a hundred experts analyse the keys to promote a model shift at IOT Solution World Congress
IOTSWC brings together the latest solutions to accelerate the digitalization of the industry
With a total of 257 exhibitors and a hundred experts from all over the world, the ninth edition of IOT Solutions World Congress (IOTSWC), the main global event in the transformation of industry through the use of disruptive technologies, will present, from May 13 to 15, the latest news, developments and innovations in the market to help accelerate the digital transformation of the industrial sector.
Under the theme ‘Connected to the next level’, the event organised by Fira de Barcelona will take place in Hall 8 of the Gran Via venue and will feature a total of 257 exhibitors, 65% international, highlighting the presence of Chinese, German, American and French companies.
Among the firms exhibiting at IOTSWC are leading companies such as AG Solution, Avanci, Edge Impulse, Emnify, STMicroelectronics, LoRa Alliance and Orange Empresas, which will showase their solutions for industries to accelerate their digital transformation process, especially in the field of Generative Artificial Intelligence. The participation of the Free Trade Zone Consortium to present DFactory, its facilities for the promotion and development of industry 4.0, is particularly noteworthy.
In addition to the latest innovations that will be presented by large companies in the market, the event features the StartUp Pavilion, an area for the most groundbreaking start-ups, including a total of 19 exhibitors from Germany, Spain, the United States, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Poland.
IOT Solutions World Congress will once again feature an important representation of companies that manufacture semiconductor chips, small electronic circuits that are fundamental for the development of industrial IOT. In this regard, it is worth highlighting the presence of a significant number of companies operating in Catalonia in this field with the support of ACCIÓ, the Catalan Government’s agency for business competitiveness, to promote their projects and products.
For all these reasons, the director of the IOTSWC, Roger Bou, said “on its tenth anniversary, IOTSWC has managed to bring together a wide sample of the technological ecosystem so that the industrial sector can apply its solutions in an increasingly digitized and interconnected day-to-day life in a global market.”
AI, the protagonist of the Congress
Likewise, the show will bring together a hundred speakers from all over the world at its Congress, including the Head of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) services at Fujitsu Spain, Elisabeth Margarit Borrás; the President of The All Data Robotics Association (ADRA), Emanuela Girardi; the Executive Director of Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech, Marta Pascual Estarellas; Atlantis Industries Founder and CEO Brad Morrison; the expert in generative AI and Co-Founder of Microbrains, Claudio Lima; and the Head of the Telecommunications Programmes of the Future division of the European Space Agency, Xavier Lobao.
Speakers will tackle issues such as the implementation of the so-called AIoT, the new technology capable of providing autonomy to IoT devices, to enable data analysis, prediction and decision-making. Likewise, the use of ArtificiaI Intelligence (AI) to achieve economic return, the optimization of processes as a sustainable initiative, the energy transition or the future of Europe in the global race for the development of AI will be discussed.
In this context, it should be remembered that the European Union (EU) has announced an endowment of 20 billion euros to promote AI through the creation of more data centers, the so-called AI factories, the installation of more data laboratories or regulatory simplification in the face of the technological dominance of the United States and Asia. The present and future of these digital infrastructures will be analysed at a conference organised jointly with Barcelona & Partners, Barcelona Global’s investment and strategic projects attraction agency.
In addition, and with the aim of bringing the LoRaWAN protocol closer to the industrial sector, the LoRa Alliance association will organize a conference highlighting success stories, implementation options and end-user experiences of this low-power open and wireless communication technology for data transmission between IoT devices.
International awards
Likewise, and with the aim of recognising the most innovative and inspiring initiatives on the market, IOTSWC is holding a new edition of the Industry Solutions Awards with a total of fifteen proposals from Germany, Saudi Arabia, Australia, France, Iran, Spain and the United Kingdom in areas such as AI, cybersecurity, connectivity, sustainability and industry 4.0.
Projects ranging from robots for land and lunar exploration to satellites to promote low-cost connectivity, AI systems to monitor large infrastructures, digital twins or applications to improve cybersecurity of companies compete for the awards.
18 billion connected devices
Since 1999, when British technologist and expert in digital transformation Kevin Ashton coined the term Internet of Things to describe a system for digitally connecting devices through the Internet, this technology has evolved rapidly, leading to a change in the production model.
According to data from IoT Analytics, in 2024, there were 18,800 million connected devices worldwide, 13% more than in 2023. It is expected that this year they will exceed 21 billion and that by the end of this decade they will reach 40 billion. New IoT applications such as smart cities, connected healthcare, and smart manufacturing, are constantly being developed in recent years. These applications are driving the demand for new solutions. In this regard, the Internet of Things market is projected to reach a value of $1.38 trillion by 2026, according to Statista.
IOTSWC 2025 will be held together with the sixth edition of the Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress, an annual event co-organized with the Agència de Ciberseguretat de Catalunya to extend the culture of cybersecurity to all industries.
