Conferred during the EdTech Congress, on technology in education
The EdTech Awards recognize ethically applied AI projects in teaching
Artificial Intelligence has been the main protagonist of the 2026 EdTech Awards. Specifically, seven of this year’s awards, presented within the framework of the EdTech Barcelona Congress, have gone to projects that apply this technological innovation to, from an ethical and responsible perspective, offer tangible improvements at the service of centres, professionals and students.
The EdTech Awards have recognized a total of thirteen projects. The experts in charge of evaluating the proposals have stressed that all the initiatives have been based on a technological basis to offer tangible improvements for the educational world in issues such as the learning processes themselves, the management of the centers, inclusion or digital environments, among other issues. A context in which the application of Artificial Intelligence from different perspectives has stood out.
Thus, among the award-winning initiatives is the “AI that protects” project, from the Escola Cooperativa Can Patufet (Barcelona), which proposes a system hosted on its own servers to offer the school community an AI system that guarantees security and privacy. The Escola Palma de Mallorca (Barcelona), for its part, has been recognized for “¡TEAmo Mucho!”, an initiative to improve the well-being of students with ASD through the design of inclusive tools such as stuffed animals or smart sound level meters.
AI to learn and teach
Other projects also stand out, such as “ValoraCare”, from the University of Lleida, a tool based on generative AI that allows nursing students to practice with simulations of clinical interviews; the “Interdisciplinary Week in AI”, from St. Peter’s School (Barcelona), which proposes to teach 6th grade students to understand what AI is for and that they can use it responsibly, or the project “Artificial intelligence in the textile sector”, from the Institut Guindàvols (Lleida), which uses this technology to simulate real processes of textile design and production in vocational training.
The winners of the 2026 EdTech Awards are completed by: GPT ecosystem for educational management (Maristes Sants–Les Corts, Barcelona), Become your best recommendation algorithm (Colegio Nazaret Porto, Madrid), Objective digitalisation of the school canteen (Colegio Trafalgar, Valencia), Hypatia (Morla EduTech, Baix Empordà), Transformation of the digital ecosystem: identity as the backbone (Florida Centre de Formació, Valencia), Voces que cuenta (Colegio San José, Estepona), Widespread School (Escola Carme Auguet, Girona) and Som Coders (Fundació Jaume Bofill, Barcelona).
The awards ceremony took place during the EdTech Night, a celebration that closed the first day of the EdTech Barcelona Congress, which brings together educational managers, ICT managers, administrations and corporate learning professionals today and tomorrow at the Palau de Congressos de Montjuïc. This edition has 81 experts and more than sixty companies that present strategic solutions for all levels of training.
