EdTech Congress Barcelona is committed to an education that links tech and ethics

On 4 and 5 February, Fira de Barcelona and EduTech Cluster are organising a new edition of EdTech Congress Barcelona, which will bring together 81 speakers and more than 60 companies to reflect on how artificial intelligence and emerging technologies are transforming teaching and training, with an ethical and inclusive impact focused on people.

EdTech Congress Barcelona has established itself as an essential meeting point for educational managers, ICT managers, public administrations and corporate learning professionals. With an expected attendance of 2,500 people, the event will offer strategic solutions for all educational levels: compulsory education, university, Vocational Training and corporate learning.

One of the great novelties of this edition is the collaboration with Integrated Systems Europe (ISE), the main international event of the audiovisual industry, which is being held in parallel from February 3 to 6 at the Gran Via venue of Fira de Barcelona. This alliance reinforces the double DNA of the congress – pedagogical and technological – and expands opportunities for schools, universities and public bodies seeking to implement new technological applications.

“EdTech Congress Barcelona wants to continue to be a space in which technology and humanism go hand in hand to build more inclusive and sustainable learning models. In this sense, the alliance with ISE will undoubtedly generate synergies that will result in our mission, greatly enriching the debate around the adoption of new technologies in the classroom and their impact on the teaching of the future,” says Alicia Berlanga, director of the congress.

Technology in a human key

The program will feature interventions that combine innovation and critical thinking to offer a humanistic vision of the use of technology in educational settings. Kristina Ishmael will open the congress with a reflection on future scenarios in digital education, while Cristóbal Cobo will close the event with his theory of “invisible learning”, which revalues tacit knowledge and warns against technological determinism. Ousman Umar will share his experience bringing digital training to rural African areas, together with voices such as Ignacio Martínez Mendizábal, Belén Gopegui, César Rendueles, Mariana Ferrarelli and Faraó Llorens, among others.

In addition to the main programme, the congress is hosting for the first time the We Love Learning Summit, dedicated to corporate training. This initiative, promoted by Netex Learning, will analyze the impact of artificial intelligence on business training, with special attention to the financial sector. The meeting will bring together experts in Learning & Development and human resources professionals to discuss how technology enhances continuous training and competitiveness in organizations. Among the speakers who will participate in this meeting are the international analyst David Perring, specialized in the application of new technologies for corporate learning; the expert in upskilling and reskilling Davide Conforti, and Gladys Vázquez Montes, journalist specialized in innovation.

Large exhibition space

More than 60 technology companies will present innovations in hybrid classrooms, connectivity and accessibility. Areas such as the Demo & Immersive Lab, to experiment with smart classrooms and AI assessment systems; the Discovery Stage and Investor Forum, dedicated to startup pitches; and the interdisciplinary hackathon edtecHack, focused on educational inclusion, with the participation of entities such as Fundació La Caixa, Fundació Mona, 3CAT and Fundació Sant Joan de Déu.

The event will include the presentation of awards to national and international educational centers for their good practices in educational technology, during the 2nd Night of EdTech, which will be held at the end of the first day.

Thanks to the alliance with Integrated Systems Europe, visitors to EdTech Congress Barcelona, which is held at the Palau de Congressos de Montjuïc, will also be able to access the Gran Via venue with the same accreditation, where the latest audiovisual solutions will be presented within the framework of ISE. There will be a free shuttle service for assistants between the two venues.
