The Spanish trade show will host more than 1,350 wineries of 90 DO and quality seals in an edition dedicated to the great family wine sagas
Barcelona Wine Week consolidates its position as the great event for quality Spanish wine
Barcelona Wine Week, the great showcase of quality Spanish wine, will hold a new edition from 2 to 4 February at the Montjuïc venue of Fira de Barcelona, consolidating both its international projection and its growth. The show will bring together more than 1,350 wineries, which represents one in three Spanish wineries, a figure that grows by 5% compared to the 2025 edition. All of them will once again bet on this event as a strategic platform to expand markets, strengthen their visibility and generate new commercial opportunities.
On this occasion, the event will feature the participation of wineries represented in 90 Denominations of Origin spread throughout the territory, which will once again show the breadth and diversity of the Spanish wine map. Labels such as Ribera del Duero, Rioja, Priorat, Montsant, Rueda, Cava, Jumilla, La Mancha or Alicante will share space with numerous quality figures that contribute to placing the country among the main producers in the world.
Halls 1 and 8 of Montjuïc will host an offer that will combine major brands, consolidated projects and new talent. Among the confirmed exhibitors are names such as Abadía Retuerta, Cepa 21, Marqués de Griñón, Pesquera, La Rioja Alta, Grandes Pagos de España, Vallformosa, Araex or Recaredo. The Osborne Group and the DO Rueda will also be present for the first time as a direct exhibitor, in addition to a wide representation of medium and small wineries, from Bodega Cerrón, Eulogio Pomares, Suertes del Marqués, Verónica Ortega, Viña Zorzal, Barco del Corneta or Celler del Roure, to projects such as Guímaro, Ponce, Mengoba, Casa Castillo, Luís Pérez, Viñas Serranas, Nanclares and Prieto, Albamar or Colet. More than 300 micro-wineries will also be present, which will once again underline the dynamism of the sector.
In this edition, Catalonia, with nearly 320 wineries, followed by Castilla y León, La Rioja and Castilla-La Mancha will be the communities with the highest representation, while Andalusia, Murcia and Asturias experience the most outstanding growth in the number of participating wineries. In total, the exhibition area will occupy 10,900 square metres, 9% more than in 2025, and will incorporate specific spaces such as a self-guided tasting organised by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food with more than 80 references, professional meeting areas and a Speaker’s corner to analyse the main market trends.
After the success of the last editions, the hosted buyers program is once again reinforced to boost the commercial activity of the show. In collaboration with ICEX Spain Export and Investment, BWW will bring together more than 880 international buyers from strategic markets in Europe, America and Asia, which will allow around 13,500 business meetings to be organised. Among the confirmed professionals are distributors such as Divin from Canada, Delta Wines from the Netherlands, Global Wines & Spirits from Colombia or Imperial Beverage from the United States, as well as managers from supermarket chains such as Coto from Argentina, NSLC from Canada or Huge of Japan. They will be joined by more than a thousand national buyers from large distribution, specialized trade and the horeca channel throughout the State.
Tribute to wine families
The next edition will dedicate a special prominence to the sagas of winegrowers and oenologists who have marked the history of Spanish wine and who continue to transmit their legacy to new generations. Families such as Torres, Vega Sicilia, Gramona, Roqueta Origen or José Pariente will share their vision on the evolution of their projects, the generational change and the way in which tradition coexists with the new ways of interpreting viticulture and winemaking.
The content programme will include more than 80 activities and the participation of 136 national and international experts who will address key issues for the future of the sector. Among them, conferences, debates and master tastings that will combine technical knowledge, market analysis and unique oenological experiences. One of the main attractions will be the presence of the renowned British critic of the Financial Times Jancis Robinson, who will lead a tasting focused on the relationship between tradition and innovation over time.
BWW 2026 will also be attended by eight Master of Wine, including Lenka Sedlackova, Almudena Alberca and Jonas Tofterup, as well as winemakers Willy Pérez, Daniel Landi, Eduardo Eguren, Oriol Llaberia and Richard Sanz. For his part, the journalist and critic of La Vanguardia Ramon Francàs will organize the tasting “12+1 myths of Jerez”.
Consumption habits
The show will also present the full conclusions of a new study carried out by Alimarket for Barcelona Wine Week, which reveals that wine consumption in Spain is mostly outside the home, with 94% of consumers drinking it in bars and restaurants. The report also shows the high valuation of Spanish wine, perceived as a product of good or very good quality by 76% of those surveyed, as well as the decisive role played by the Designation of Origin in the consumer’s choice. These data highlight the strong emotional link with national wine and the weight of the hospitality industry as the main prescribing channel.
BWW has the collaboration of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, ICEX Spain Export and Investment, the Spanish Wine Federation, the Spanish Conference of Wine Regulatory Councils and the Spanish Interprofessional Wine Organization, in addition to the support of Cajamar, the leading financial group of cooperative banking in Spain.
